                               The three major functions of titanium

The functional material is an engineering material mainly based on physical properties, that is, special properties in electricity, magnetism, sound, light, heat, etc., or a material exhibiting special functions under its function. Research on titanium and titanium alloys has revealed that there are three special functions that have application prospects:

 

First, memory function

 

Titanium-nickel alloys have unidirectional, bidirectional, and Omni directional memory effects at certain ambient temperatures and are recognized as the best memory alloys. In engineering, hydraulic joint systems for fighter jets, oil pipeline systems for oil complexes, 500 mm diameter parabolic mesh antenna made of 0.5 mm diameter wire are used in spacecrafts, and they are used in medical engineering for the manufacture of snoring diseases. Second, superconductivity

 

Tantalum-titanium alloys exhibit zero-resistance superconductivity at temperatures below the critical temperature.

 

Third, the hydrogen storage function

 

Titanium-iron alloys have the property of absorbing hydrogen, storing a large amount of hydrogen safely and releasing hydrogen in a certain environment. This is promising for applications such as hydrogen separation, hydrogen purification, hydrogen storage and transportation, and the production of hydrogen-based heat pumps and batteries.
